I have just finished creating the PDF files for the patents numbered on the front of my GVII's. Unfortunately, all three of them relate to the GVI from 1941, 1942 and 1950 (for the back). These are available for download from:
http://www.southbristolviews.com
under Graflex Manuals on the left-side menu.

If anyone knows what the true patent number(s) are for the GVII, I would appreciate finding out. Graflex _must_ have patented the changes on the GVII? And what about the Graflok back?

The patent numbers I have (on all of my GVII's) are:

2257081
2301921
2500058

Any numbers other than those would be appreciated!

Thanks...

Other than a longer rail and on-axis struts what were the benefits/improvements of the GVII?

I wonder if making shorter rails and moving the hingepoint would be enough to be patentable.

You're probably right Les. I didn't put enough thought into that. There really isn't enough of a difference to call for a new patent, and I doubt that axis tilts would be patentable(?). The graflok back thre me though. But now I figure that it was patented, probably for the Speed/Crown and again, not seperately for the View II..

Oh-well... I was really just dissappointed to not see the View II in those nice drawings...

And now I still have to work on the Speed patents. Over a dozen different numbers there, and I only start with Pacemakers...

"I only start with Pacemakers"

good thing too. I'm not sure about the Anny, but the Top Handle was never patented, at least not as a camera. The flip up viewfinder came from the 0 Graphic, the front standard and rails came from the 1A or 3A, and the shutter came from the '04? model Graflex.

I finally have to admit that I don't know how far I'll go with these patents. Turns out the unmbers relate to things like the infinity stops, wire viewfinder, spring back, graflok back...

I may just do some general selected patents and leave it at that...
