Just bought the revamped version (digital process)on DVD of "The Advertures of Robin Hood"(1938)...loads of short subjects relating to the movie-the classic being, dear old Errol leaning out of a helicopter (circa 1950's)so say, shooting Whales with his GRAFLEX RB announcing he was getting wonderful pictures.Sorry Errol, only in your dreams, because all the while he had the front CLOSED.
Anyway, because of the angle of the camera's hood,no way is this camera suited to look down on whales underneath you.Artistic licence abound.Shot of 16mm by a family friend and released (blown up to 35mm)by Warner Bros to cash in on Errol's name.
Anyone know about the cameras that shot the "Stills" for this movie,or any Hollywood production. In the background featurettes made at the time on Robin Hood they show a 10x8 camera mounted on a tripod next to the bulky Technicolor camera.Complete with dark cloth and photographer(s).In fact it looks bigger than a 10x8.? |
