I plan to purchase a 1950s or 1960s Crown or Speed Graphic. I want to use it handheld, so weight is an issue. I understand that the Crown Graphics are lighter than the Speed Graphics, but I don't know by how much. Does anyone know what the actual weight difference is? Thanks. |

My Crown with graflok back, side rangefinder, 135mm lens , film holder(loaded) very slightly under 6 lbs. I do not have a Pacmaker speed, but the Anniversary speed in the same config. is 6.5 lbs. So you don/t save a lot of weight, but do save in bulk. Russ |

don't forget that the .8 of a pound is on a scale.
On your left hand, that 3/4 of a pound doubles every half hour for the first two. Then is starts to square. I once shot a dance party with my Crown and a couple of Grafmatics. I was absolutely amazed at how much light the camera felt when I removed the ground glass frame and locked the Grafmatics in with the slide locks.
I also shot weddings with a Hassy ELM and a 22 roll back.
