All,
Thanks in part to information and advice on this site, I've been able to put together a nice three-lens Century Graphic setup (65mm Angulon, 105mm Xenar, 165mm Tele-Arton). I have a small lensboard problem, however. Of the three lensboards, one fits tightly in the front standard. One is a tiny bit loose, and one has quite a bit of play in it.
Anyone have any recommendations for minor mods that might improve the fit of the loose lensboard?
Thanks a million,

I had this problem, too. Take a pair of pliers (I used a smooth-jaw modeler's pliers) and gently bend the lensboard flanges outward ever so slightly. Careful: it doesn't take much movement! The goal is to increase the surface contact, thus the friction, between the flanges and the light trap groove on the front standard. Keep bending and trying the fit until it doesn't wiggle anymore when locked down. |

| Henry, is this a problem with the nice silver original Graflex-made boards too? All of my cheap black reproductions needed this adjustment, but none of my heavier 'silver' ones.
Cheers,

Dan,
My original silver lensboard is a good fit. My two black "aftermarket" boards are the loose ones. It looks to me like the lips on both of them aren't quite as deep as the lip on the silver one.

I've only had the problem with the black repros. The original silver ones fit fine---and I wish I had a few more of them! |
