I noticed on this site we have pictures of Aerial cameras fitted into PBY Catalina's & B17 Flying Fortress...so here's the question:did GRAFLEX also supply the cameras for the P.38 Lighting reconnaissance aircraft during World WarII,which photographed battle zones from the Pacific to the dropping of the Atom Bomb in Japan.
Anyone here know about this fact...
Greetings from London in the meantime..
G.S.

Hi! I don't know if the K-20 was used aboard the aircraft you mentioned. The K-20 was handheld, of course, and likely could have been if there was room for someone else on board to operate the camera. I don't see how a pilot could use a camera that takes two hands and fly the ship safely(I'm a pilot) You might enjoy the 200th Combat Mapping Squadron Website---lots on info on old aerial cameras. Sorry I don't have the address, but I found it with a Google search. Tally-ho!

---Come to think of it, I know a Gentleman who was a ball-turret gunner on B-25s who also shot a K-20(tight fit!) so its possible a graphic was aboard one of Billy Mitchell's "Raiders."

I realise the P.38 was a 'one' pilot machine,so WHO produced the cameras for it..was it GRAFLEX?
...if so,another string to the companies bow-a great aircraft thanks to Mr.Lindbergh loving intervention to give it extra mileage.

Sid, I just came across a reference to K-20 being used in P-39. They were fitted into a bay in the nose, apparently fired electrically.

YES - I've used it many times to keep from looking even more foolish than I ordinarily do. I think it is a GREAT feature and wish other forums had that function.
