Greetings,

I wondered if anyone could help with my search for a new power cord for my Kalart Range Finder? I have read the existing posts concerned with finding such power cords, and I have concluded that my 'King Sol' battery case (originally made by the Research Corp. NYC) is the same as the Heiland battery case (i.e. the permanently hot socket is a small bipost type, not a Household type). Does anyone know the spec, (or some other practical description) for this small socket so I can describe it to someone like Paramount Cords and try to have a replacement made up?

Thanks,

Dave

If you are talking about the Kalart Focus Spot, it uses the same cord as the Bipost shutter. Bipost to HH. The reason a common household plug will not fit is they are now all polarized. You can make them work with the help of a file. Order one from Paramont. Russ

Russ, if I understand his problem correctly, his battery case plug is difficult to fit - it looks just like the female complement to the Focospot's male pins. That was the way HR made them - I had a cord like that one time - gave it to an HR user. They are not easy to find. You wouldn't be able to file down a HH plug to fit it.

He apparently has an older Heiland case, and needs the 2 small round pins, spaced about the same as the bipost, right, sorry. I think maybe I have one of those cords in my spare parts bin, he can have it if I have it. Russ

I have found this cord with 2 small male pins, which look like the same as the bipost pins on the shutters. You may have it, it may fix half your problem. If it fits the flash tell Paramont you want a cable with male bipost on one end and female bipost on the other. E-mail me at Jdman@aol.com if interested.Russ

Hi Russ,

Thanks very much for looking out that cord. Yes, I would be very interested in it. I'll be in touch by e-mail shortly.

Thanks again,

Cheers,

Dave

I would think that Paramount should be intensely aware of the King Sol's specs. The patriarch of the Paramount Corp started by making the King Sol flash. It took Honeywell (the successor) a long time to bring KS to court over patent infringement. Not sure why.
