I have a question about the 4x5 auto Graflex. Does the front standard tilt as well as rise? If it doesn't, could it be easily modified to do so? I have an idea for a portrait project I'd like to explore.
Thanks for any help!

Erik--The "Auto" had a fixed standard, very heavy in most cases! Old box style with stovepipe hood, and lense behind pop up door.
The only Graflex of this type construction with the movements you asked about,is the very rare Home Portrait Graflex! I at one time modified a "D" model lense standard to take a modern 210mm Schneider---so the modification "IS" possible if you have the equipment and woodworking experience. Email
me if you wish, and we can kick it around a bit--and maybe share some sketches and photos. (check profile for E-mail)

Just looked at one of my revolving back auto's, it had the rise/fall feature but had no swing (have it stripped down for restoration)-hadnt looked at it for awhile--sorry for the info mixup. Bert

"Mentor" used to manufacture large format reflex cameras with swings and tilts. I own a couple, but they seem to be quite rare these days.
