Anyone know of a good lens repair shop? My 135mm Graflex Optar S/N G20474 is slow at 1/2 & 1 second; plus the flash contacts are (most likely) corroded and sometimes stuck as they erratically trigger the flash.
I used to dispense and repair hearing aids, but opening up the shutter assembly with all of the springs is above my head. |

The problem is in the shutter, not the lens elements themselves. Does the circular shutter plate say "Wollensack Rapax" or "Graphex" on it?
If so, perhaps you would do well to contact Fred Lustig. He has necessary parts to CLA & repair such shutters. He doesn't put forth an email address, but you can call him during daytime hours. He is a very knowledgable & helpful gentleman.

Hope this helps!!

Fred Lustig recently brought back to life my 135mm Optar in Graphex M-F-X. It was given to me by a friend who teaches photography at a local college, and had been subject to some serious abuse that required replacement of essential parts, which Mr. Lustig had on hand. The shutter now works like new, and I can heartily recommend Fred Lustig for this kind of work. |
