I've seen a Graflex View II with a Aero-Ektar lens at auction, I'm confused as to how this lens could work on this camera with no focal plane shutter?

Could it possibly have a shutter in the lensmount?

There is only one photo of the camera and it's a general view, no detail and I can't get to the auction room.

Any idea how this camera might (or might not) work?

Thanks,

James

There are a couple of ways to do it.

Leaf shutter behind or in front of lens. Packard or Sinar Copal (not sure if either will fit a GV) behind the board. Packard in front of the lens (but you'd have seen it).

Curtain shutter in front of film plane, e.g., cut down/mutilated Speed Graphic.

Dan, don't you also need an airplane?

BTW, how did Sandy treat you in your part of NJ? We lost power here for two days but had little damage in my immediate vicinity, although many thousands were without electricity in PA. Some folks still are.

Henry, we were very lucky. The wind blew, there was some rain, our trees shed a few twigs, the power flickered off and on once, and for us that was it. Other people, most of them some distance from us, had things much much worse. Many of them are still in the bad stuff. As I said, we were very lucky.

I'm glad you got off relatively easy, sorry you lost power for as long as you did.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

I got a condition report from the auctioneer for the lens and camera, too many issues so decided against buying it.

Regards,

James
