It's both, appparently. IOW there are two names. I have the GrafTAR, and can't speak to the GrafLAR, but I agree with you: the TAR is a very useable, perhaps underrated, lens, and the Century shutter is generally trouble free, in my experience. It also synchronizes automatically (i.e., the user doesn't have to make settings) with flash.

When the Century came out in '49, it came equipped with the 103mm Trioptar. Within a year or two the name changed to Graftar. Same lens, same shutter, different name. Both were made by Wollensak. Sometime in the 60's, the Graflar came out which is a Rodenstock Trinar design that was only sold in the EV coupled Prontor SVS shutter. It was not offered in any other shutter combo.

Aha! Thanks for that info. Different lens designs, in different shutters. I have wondered why there were two so similar names; now I know.

I have a 101mm Graflar # 3813845 & by Rodenstock S# that make it about a 1956 ??
