On every Pacemaker and Anniversary Graphic I've seen (haven't looked much at the other models), there's a little oblong flat metal bit on the bed between the right (rangefinder side) focus knob and the track. It's secured at one end, and turns freely about that screw.
What purpose does it serve? (other than getting in the way when I have the front standard out past the end of the bed) |

If it's out near the edge of the bed then it's the rail lock lever. |
