I never used roll film before. My miniature format is my Speed Graphics. I shoot on 8x10 more now than before to get the edge on the digital camera shooters who took some of my accounts away. I just got a roll film holder that makes ten 6x7 images on my 4x5 Speed Graphic. Does anyone know where I can see an instruction manual on this item? Also, when loading the film, is there a place the arrow on the film is supposed to be placed or do you just shut the back after threading the spool and it advances automatically to number 1 ? Thanks.

RH loading has been discussed here over and over, do a search and you'll find.

Thanks for the info. I have one more question. Is there any difference beteween the model with the round knob and the later one with the lever. Mine has a blue lever on it. I have seen different color film advance levers on these items. Do you know why they were different colors?

The colors are supposed to code for number of frames. 8, 10, 12, and sorry, I don't know the code.

The significant difference between knob wind and lever wind roll holders isn't in the carriers, which have the advance mechanism etc. It is in the shells. Shells sold with lever wind and late knob wind carriers have a pin roller at each end of the gate. They are supposed to hold the film flatter than older shells without the pin rollers.

I have 2x3 knob wind and lever wind roll holders, all with the pin rollers. I don't care what other folks' roll holders do, I'd swear that my knob wind doesn't hold film as flat as my lever wind.

Note that since the carriers fit all shells, it is possible for, say, a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 carrier, used, to be in a 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 shell, used. One has to be careful when buying used Graflex roll holders.
